  • Commonwealth Choir at Horse Guards Parade

    The children choir have a long stint this week performing over four night for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations (5th to 7th July), staring with 4th July full dress rehearsal. They sang beautifully and the evening events were superb.

  • NSPCC ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ programme

    As the UK’s largest children’s charity, the NSPCC are committed to making sure that they help schools around the country keep their pupils safe. The aim of the NSPCC is to empower and help children and to provide teachers all across the UK with the tools to do that because we know that through working together, the NSPCC and the whole school community can have tremendous impact in preventing abuse and keeping children and young people safe. Due to the effects of the Covid pandemic one element of the NSPCC’s service is the online ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ programme. As part of our safeguarding procedures the school delivered the online assemblies to the different year groups for children from Reception to Year 6.

  • Tower of London

    On Thursday 2nd June 2022 children from St Edward's and St Winefride's had the honour of performing at the beacon lighting ceremony at the Tower of London as part of the Commonwealth Children's Choir. Following the lighting of the beacon the children sang a song for the Commonwealth commissioned specifically for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, their performance was televised live on Sky News. Well done to all of our children on their fantastic performance.

  • Diocesan Citizenship Award

    All the schools from the Newham Deanery were represented at the Brentwood Diocese Citizenship award.  A child from each school was presented with their award by Bishop Alan in recognition of their service to the school and others.  Haniya was delighted and honoured to receive her award from Bishop Alan.

  • Her Majesty's Children's Commonwealth Choir at the Windsor Horse Show

    On Sunday 15th May 2022, pupils from St Edward's and St Joachim's sang as part of Her Majesty's Children's Commonwealth Choir at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. They were joined by other local schools, including Little Ilford Secondary school. This was part of the Queen's 70th, Platinum Jubilee celebrations and was broadcast live across the world on ITV, with potential viewing figures of over 1 billion people. Sincere congratulations to them for such a professional performance, we are extremely proud of them all.
