St Edward's World Book Day

3rd Mar 2022

On Thursday 3rd March we celebrated World Book day to celebrate our love of reading. Staff and children dressed up in their favourite characters from stories they love. All were very excited as they had a range of activities throughout the day. We started the morning off by doing a 'Where's Wally' search in the playground. The character was hidden and the children had to search for him. As you can imagine the competition to find Wally first was immense. All children were presented with a certificate when they found him. We then had a live event with the author Axel Scheffler this was very popular where Axel showed the children how he creates animations for his books and showed the children step by step how to draw these he then read a story live to the children. It was great fun.  Following this we then learnt the World Book day song by Mc Grammar, while Mc Grammar sang this rap the children had to find the titles of the books, he was rapping about this proved very popular. The children then completed book reviews and stories. A great day was had by all and we are looking forward to our next event!
